Never buy a store-bought seasoning packet again! This homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix is so easy to make and absolutely delicious, much better than the store-bought kind! As an added bonus, it's sugar free, so it's Keto, Low Carb, Whole30 and Paleo.
Homemade Spice Blends
Making your own seasoning blends is more cost effective than buying store bought blends, and it also ensures you have full control over every ingredient included, which is important when you're closely monitoring the foods you eat.
Many store-bought brands have sneaky artificial ingredients and unnecessary sweeteners. But this recipe is 100% Whole30 compliant and Keto friendly!
Other homemade seasoning blends: Taco Seasoning, Dry Ranch Mix, and Blackened Seasoning.
Recipe Ingredients
On any given day, I already have all the spices in my cabinet needed to make fajita seasoning. Because all that's it in is:
- Cayenne pepper
- Chili powder
- Cumin
- Salt
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Paprika
The cayenne pepper is the secret to the spicy kick. If you like your fajitas a little milder, use less or leave it out completely. It's totally customizable!
Recipes that Use Fajita Seasoning
Fajita seasoning is wonderful on chicken, shrimp, beef, and more! Shown above is a chicken fajita salad!
More recipes that use fajita seasoning:
- Chicken Breast Fajita Salad (pictured above!)
- Chicken Fajita Stuffed Peppers
- Instant Pot Chicken Fajitas
- Marinated Fajita Lime Chicken
- Sheetpan Steak Fajita Lettuce Wraps
- Shrimp Fajitas
👉 As a general rule of thumb, use between 2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon of fajita seasoning for every pound of protein/vegetables you're seasoning and planning to cook. As there's more surface area to cover, more seasoning will be needed.
Fajita Seasoning vs. Taco Seasoning
A lot of people wonder if there's a different between fajita seasoning and taco seasoning. Traditionally, some spices are the same and some are different, but to most home cooks, you'd never know the difference.
In my opinion, the difference is small so you can pretty much use the two blends interchangeably anytime you're in a pinch.
